Community Standards

1. Be Real

• Use your real identity. Your card should represent you — your actual name (or the name you genuinely go by), your photo, your work.
• No impersonation. Never pose as another person, brand, or organization, or claim an affiliation you don't have.
• No misleading cards. Don't use someone else's photo, invent credentials, or set up cards designed to deceive the people you meet.
• One person per account. Spunj accounts are for individual adults (18+). Accounts operated by bots, teams, or businesses posing as individuals are not allowed.

2. Be Respectful

We have zero tolerance for abusive behavior, whether it happens in the app or in person after meeting through Spunj:

• No harassment or bullying. Do not intimidate, shame, insult, or repeatedly contact someone who has not welcomed it.
• No hate. Content or conduct that attacks or demeans people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic is prohibited.
• No threats or violence. Never threaten, incite, or glorify violence against anyone.
• No sexual misconduct. Unwanted sexual advances, sexual harassment, and sexualized content directed at other users are prohibited.
• No doxxing. Never share someone else's private information — including a card they shared with you, or a place that would reveal where they live or spend their time — to harass, expose, or endanger them.

3. Keep Content Clean

Your card, photo, and event room status line are seen by people around you, and the names and reasons you write on places and recommendations are seen by the people you share them with. Content that is pornographic, graphically violent, obscene, or otherwise objectionable is prohibited anywhere on Spunj. This includes profile photos, names, bios, links, status lines, place names, and recommendation notes. Anything that sexualizes or endangers minors is prohibited, will be removed immediately, and will be reported to the appropriate authorities.

4. Use Discovery Honestly

Nearby discovery is for meeting people who want to be met:

• No stalking or surveillance. Do not use Spunj to track, follow, or monitor anyone's presence or movements. This applies to places as much as to people: never use a tagged or shared place to figure out, reveal, or keep tabs on where someone lives, works, or spends their time.
• No scraping or recording. Do not collect, log, or store other users' broadcasts, cards, or identifiers except as the app itself intends.
• No spam or solicitation. Don't use nearby discovery, event rooms, or game lobbies to blast advertising, chain messages, scams, pyramid schemes, or unsolicited commercial offers.
• No technical abuse. Don't spoof broadcasts, tamper with device attestation, or interfere with other users' connections.

5. Tag and Share Places Honestly

Favorite Places is for spots you have actually stood in and want someone to know about:

• Only places you've been. Spunj asks you to be there to tag a place, and that's the whole point. Don't try to fake a visit, and don't share a place you haven't really been to.
• Never someone else's home. Do not tag or share a private residence that isn't yours. Not a friend's, not an ex's, not anyone's.
• No harmful or off-limits spots. Don't share places that are unsafe, unlawful to enter, closed to the public, or intended to lure someone somewhere.
• Name places truthfully. Don't use a place's name or note to advertise, mislead, insult anyone, or slip in content that wouldn't be allowed anywhere else on Spunj.

5A. Play Fairly

Some Spunj games are played with another person nearby, over a direct link between your two phones:

• Your name is on the air. While you wait in a two-player lobby, people nearby waiting in any two-player game see the short name your card already broadcasts, along with which game you are waiting in. Everything in these standards about being real applies there too.
• No harassment through games. Don't use invitations to pester someone who has turned you down, and don't use a game as a way around a block.
• Play in good faith. Don't tamper with a match, exploit the link between phones, or interfere with someone else's game.

6. Meet Safely

Spunj introduces you to people nearby — it does not screen, background-check, or vouch for anyone. When you take a connection into the real world:

• Meet new contacts in public places, especially the first time.
• Tell a friend where you're going and who you're meeting.
• Trust your instincts. If something feels off, it probably is — leave.
• You are never obligated to connect, share your card, or keep talking to anyone. "No" is a complete sentence on Spunj.

The same goes for a place someone shares with you. A shared place is one person's word about a spot — not a vetted recommendation from us:

• Look a place up before you go, and check that it's open, public, and somewhere you actually want to be.
• If someone asks you to meet at a place they shared, treat it like any first meeting: somewhere public, in daylight, with a friend who knows where you are.
• Nothing obligates you to visit a place, tag it, or share it back. Received places sit in your list until you decide otherwise, and you can delete one anytime.
• Never rely on Spunj for directions or in an emergency. Use a real maps app, and call local emergency services if you need help.

7. Reporting and Blocking

You have tools to protect yourself, right in the app:

• Block anyone from their card or profile. Blocked people can't tap you, see you in their bubbles, appear in your event rooms, or reach you in a game lobby while near you.
• Report anyone whose card, status line, recommendation, shared place, or behavior violates these standards. Reports include the reason you select and the content they shared with you, so our safety team can act on them.
• Blocking works both ways, everywhere. When you block someone, they disappear from your bubbles, your event rooms, and your game lobbies, and you disappear from theirs — and nothing they share, including places, recommendations, and game invitations, reaches you.

8. How Enforcement Works

Our safety team reviews reports and aims to act on legitimate safety reports within 24 hours. Depending on the severity, we may:

• Remove or refuse to transmit violating content, including place names and recommendation notes;
• Issue a warning;
• Restrict account features, such as appearing in nearby bubbles, joining event rooms, or playing with people nearby;
• Permanently remove the account and add it to an app-wide denylist so the person cannot appear in anyone's bubbles; and
• Involve law enforcement where we believe someone is in danger or the law requires it.

Serious violations — threats, sexual misconduct, anything involving minors, repeated harassment, or using places to track or expose someone — result in immediate permanent removal.

9. Appeals

If you believe we restricted or removed your account in error, email safety@spunj.app with the subject "Appeal" from an address you can be reached at, and tell us what happened. A human will review every appeal, and we aim to respond within 7 days.

10. Updates

We may update these standards as the community grows. Material changes will be announced in the app and reflected in the effective date above. Continuing to use Spunj after changes take effect means you accept the updated standards.
